In October 2024, Healthed ran a clinical article entitled, ‘Non-fatal strangulation detection and management’. This article, written by Sophia Auld, discusses acute and chronic presentation and management of non-fatal strangulation in primary care settings. The article draws on the expertise of Dr Frances Chen, a general practitioner at Leichhardt Women’s Community Health Centre, and Dr Ellie Freedman, manager of the medical forensic team at the NSW Health Education Centre Against Violence. The article references Women’s Health NSW’s online learning hub, It Left No Marks and our Guidelines for responding to non-fatal strangulation and sexual choking (2024), as a source of information for healthcare providers.
