In November 2024, The Lismore App ran an article about sexual choking. It focuses on the work of Lismore Women’s Health & Resource Centre (LWHRC) addressing both strangulation and sexual choking.
This article will be useful to women engaging in sexual choking, as well as service providers and healthcare providers working with women who may be experiencing strangulation or sexual choking. It includes commentary from Emma Siegel, the manager of LWHRC, who outlines the connection to brain injury, and evolving neurological signs and symptoms to look out for.
