This video is for service providers who work with men who use power and control in their relationships. It gives you some examples of ways you can raise sexual choking with men who use violence.
Women’s health centres don’t just work with women, through events, partnerships and outreach, they connect with their whole community. To help service providers use the evidence base on strangulation and sexual choking with men who use violence, we worked with Joel Palmer from Orange Local Aboriginal Land Council.
In this short video (five minutes) Joel, a men’s behaviour change specialist, demonstrates how he works with men who use power and control in their relationships. Joel unpacks how he raises sexual choking (Joel calls it sexual strangulation) in his work. You can find out more about Joel’s work on his website.
The video was made by Women’s Health NSW and Digital Storytellers in April 2024 using monies from the Sexual Violence Project Fund administered by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice.
